Superbowl Guacamole Dip

GuacamoliSuperbowl Guacamole Dip

Here’s a relatively low calorie, heart healthy recipe for you to try.  This recipe does not include salt, though I’ve been told a little pepper won’t hurt it.

2 ripe HAAS Avocados
¼   – 1 Small Onion (minced – add according to taste)

2 Small Tomatoes (diced)
1 Clove Garlic (Or minced garlic from a jar)
1 Tbsp. or the juice of one Lemon or Lime

Cut open avocados and scoop them out. Discard skin and pits. Use a fork, mixer or best yet pastry blender to blend the avocados until smooth.

Next, add some minced onions, garlic and tomato to taste.  Add a little lime juice for an extra kick. Serve immediately with natural low-fat corn tortillas chips to keep the calorie count down. Enjoy!

Note:  Make sure your avocado is ripe.  If the avocado is the right color (see below) and yields to firm gentle pressure – it is ripe and ready to eat.  If it feels soft or mushy, it is overripe.  If it feels firm, it won’t be ready to eat for a couple of days, at least.Avocado
